Definition characters description and diffusion
The humidity in the desert ranges from a very low 0 to 5% but can increase up to a rate of 80% in the oases and these values are kept thanks to the runoff. The quantity of water that apparently evaporates is actually rendered by the overall oasis effect. The palm-grove both controls the phenomena of water dispersion caused by the evaporation and the transpiration of the biomass and attracts and collects moisture.
General characters description and diffusion
In the valley of M'zab in the Algerian Sahara the palm groves form a long green ribbon extending for about one thousand hectares. Fuit trees grow in the shade of the palms of vegetables and cereals lie under the trees.
Advantages and sustainability
The palm groves protect moisture while prevent evaporation. In this way, trees and vegetables grow in the shade of the palm groves making life possible in desert climates.
