Title: Modern humidity condensation techniques

Description of the innovative solution

Atmospheric condenser

The device is made up of a dome of 12 meters in height and 12 meters in diameter and it is located at the top of a hill. In the stonewalls 2.5 meters thick there are 7 rows of openings, two of which are at the base and two of which are at the top. Inside, there is a hollow waterproof cylindrical column, crossed by porous tubes. The central column is equipped with the sharp edges of pieces of slate inclined towards the ground to multiply the surface area of contact with the air and promote the formation of drops. Inside the central column a metal tube is inserted that serves as a chimney. In the basement there is a collection tank can be inspected with a staircase and is equipped with pump to draw water. During the day the room temperature remains low and the hot air enters from the outer upper ducts, rubs the inner walls, cools and, favored moisture absorbed by the porous tubes reaches the point of condensation. On the sharp edges drops are formed that fall into the collection tank. The cooled air exits from the lower ducts. The central metal tube has the task of intercepting the air during the night and keep condensing cold mass. The ability of condensation depends on the maintenance of the low internal temperature, which must have a difference with the outside of at least 15 degrees Celsius. In conventional devices, this situation, in which the condenser can produce 16 cubic meters of water, was guaranteed by the mass of stones.


Aerial Well- Knapen System

This well works according to the procedures of the atmospheric condenser. Contrary to the traditional capturers that operate both day and night, these devices condense only the quantities of water vapor contained in the air during the day. They are, in fact, impermeable from the outside and the only resource of catchment is therefore daytime atmospheric water vapor. In this way, the figure for the production of water is not affected by the night frost.
