||GREAT UNDERGROUND COMPLEXES
Definition characters description and diffusion
Watersheds dug in the ground are used for the collection of rainwater.
General characters description and diffusion
Originally natural geological formations were used like sinkholes in a Karst environment. Subsequently, one excavation in the plateau determines a court on which underground perimeters open. The technique is at the beginning of the complex settlement of Matmatà in Tunisia of the rock villages in Gravine in Puglia in the pre-Columbian centers of Caiaco canyon in Colorado, in the monolithic rock complexes of Lalibela in Ethiopia and is largely diffused with orthogonal underground courts in the province of Xin Chiang in China.
Advantages and sustainability
Rainwater is collected and stored in watersheds under the ground.
