Technique: WATER INTAKES AND CHANNELS Definition characters description and diffusion Water inlets and channels allow you to use the resources of a river without doing any raising for irrigation of remote areas located along the banks and higher than them.  General characters description and diffusion The practice consists of building the water intakes upstream with respect to the point where it must be used. In this way, the channels can proceed on the shores in a higher position in respect to the bottom of the river and allows the irrigation of these areas using the sheer force of gravity. Along the course of the water, small barricades facilitate the feeding of the water intake or direct the overflows.
